As I entered this home, I noticed how Zahir, an old blind man, was sitting at the corner of the room and was eating some food. As I approached him to ask questions about his situation, he pointed out to the table and said:
‘Thank God we have good neighbours who help us sometimes. This food is from our neighbours, otherwise we would die out of hunger. There is no one else to help us.’

Zahir, a man who is in a really bad situation. His one eye is blind and this family is amongst one of the poorest families in Mazar-e-Sharif. His one son and one young daughter are still struggling to get a job, but they do not have any opportunity. His daughter feels very bad about their situation because her father is sick and her mother is illiterate and cannot work. Zahir shared how his family is suffering to get basic commodities as food and other needs in their family. His son wants to work in a city, but because of coronavirus, he cannot work, and he is too young to work too.
Coronavirus has worsened the situation of this family not even being able to afford food for the family.
